19 of the Russian's 21 victories have been won on hardcourt

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial championship for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.

The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has had a torrid year, winning just one win at the big events and suffering a meltdown at the US Open.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in especial - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with former mentor Cervara.

Now working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually advanced in the recent weeks - peaking in a tightly fought three-set victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

It is the player's initial title after the Italian tournament and first on a hard surface since March of the previous year.

Victory also signifies he has secured 21 victories at twenty-one different competitions.

"It's the first time I'm at a event with my both daughters at once, so to get a trophy is especially meaningful," commented tennis professional Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my second daughter her name, because the first title I achieved when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six title deciders, including in the German tournament previously this season.

The player's retrieving approach and recurring outbursts on court had prompted observers to wonder if his ability to compete at the top level was finished.

But the player has made changes in recent weeks, making an effort to approach the net and perform aggressively, reinforced by an better serving game.

Medvedev came back from a break down in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, securing 4 of the final five games to take the lead.

The competitors swapped service breaks in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his maiden professional title, seized the initiative to create a final set.

He rescued 4 early opportunities in a tight third set before Medvedev secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.

Appropriately, Medvedev clinched the win with a shot at the net, with Moutet incapable to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
