A person who laced treats with sedative and provided them to children at a summer program in the area has admitted sexual offenses against two young males who were nine and ten years old.
The accused was taken into custody after eight youngsters and one adult fell ill at Stathern Lodge in July.
The 76-year-old, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, admitted guilt to a total of 17 charges when he stood at the courthouse on Friday.
Yet, he disputed one of the sexual offences he was charged with, which was concerning a young boy.
The accused was remanded in custody prior to a subsequent court date on late November.
'Sweet game'
The legal representative, prosecuting, described the criminal behavior to the judicial body.
She stated his those affected were children from difficult backgrounds who were staying at a summer camp which he managed.
Ruben played a "candy game" with the children, Mrs Prior stated, in which he would enter the boys' rooms when they were preparing to sleep and request they to consume candy "rapidly".
She told the court the man had engaged in this activity with the young males "for many years", and minors had previously fallen ill the subsequent day.
She said Ruben had been successful in rationalizing this over a long period as the children being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his family member had suspicions in recently.
Mrs Prior KC added: "Recently" his stepchild had concerns about the situation, for good reason.
"They decided to have a look in the man's possessions."
The legal counsel explained materials including infant oil, petroleum jelly and injection devices were located, and his family member alerted the authorities about his worries.
She stated Ruben continued to engage in the "sweet game" with six children that time - that Saturday - and they were all sick the next day.
"Authorities" had not gone out by that stage," she added.
The regulatory agency, the police conduct office, had stated that it was investigating Leicestershire Police's handling of the events.
The legal representative stated the minors were having difficulty walking due to their condition, so Ruben's stepson notified the authorities once more.
She explained the man then engaged in the "sweet game" in a area of five minors.
